A church, painted by one of our own

The painting above was created by church member Jack Fairgrieve — a nonagenarian — working from a photograph of the building. It hangs at the heart of our website just as it hangs at the heart of our community.

Formerly a Presbyterian and Congregational Church, we’ve worshipped on Wood Street since 1825.

Our building marked its 200th anniversary on 26th October 2025 — eight generations of a congregation that started with just eight worshippers in 1676.
